I visited a glassblowing workshop in Whangarei (New Zealand) a few weeks ago and turned one of the photographs I snapped into a watercolour picture. I showed it to the artist and got featured on his website.

Fluxionary Animal Portraits
The next step to loosen up my style was to bring this new minimalistic style to other techiques as well. I did a series of animal portraits with watercolour and Caran d'Ache Fancolor water soluble pencils.
The secret behind this was also to use up my watercolour paper by doing a lot of quick paintings in one go (the ones shown here are only the select winners of this marathon of course).
Especially the Fancolour pencils were a great discovery. I really would like to continue to draw with them, but unfortunately my art supplys are stripped-down due to my recent change of residence. ^^"
Minimalistic Drawing - Loosen up your Style
Sometimes I feel like my drawings and paintings are a little bit too stiff and I loose myself in details.
Yet I admire greatly all artists who are able to create very light and almost blurred pictures, which express moods, feelings and atmospere perfectly and apparently without the urge to get it right down to the last detail.
So I tried a way to loosen up my style a little and forced myself to do minimalistic portraits and figure drawings which, until now, worked perfectly.
Disney Doodle
Have you noticed? I resumed my Disney Doodle project since with spring, a little more time and a few honoured guests at my house my creativity is in flower again. Did you miss out some of my former doodles?
No problem, here they are:
All created on A4 Hahnemühle artists sketchbook and different types of black pencils, sometimes with the help of black ink or guache.
