Fall-ing Leaf by LadyTinuz Fall-ing Leaf by LadyTinuz
Not a paper cut in the traditional sense. ^^"
It's from a Paulownia tomentosa which grows in my yard. It's huge and the leaves are huge, too!

Original and impressive! Do you mount the leaves to a surface before cutting, or are you just incredibly dexterous?

Thank you for your compliment. ^_^

And to your question:
Well, I'm not the personification of autumn going around and prink all the little leaves on the trees.^^" You have to move them to a stable surface (in my case a cutting mat from ecobra) and be very careful with the cutting as well, because I cut them a few minutes after I picked them up and they are quite fragile.

This must have taken a lot of time and patience... to make all those cuts so precise and keep the leaf whole and clean looking. I especially like it because fall is my favorite time of year. I've never seen someone do this so the discovery of something new is refreshing. Apart from that I also like how it differentiates from what other people tend to do during the season with Thanksgiving, Halloween or cookie cutter sketches, and photographs of trees.

Beautiful and delicate - have you done something to preserve it now so the deer don't crumble as it dries out?

Yes, I'll preserve it. At the moment I dry and press it and afterwards I'll use a bit of hairspray. ^_^

This is beautiful! I admit I've been thinking of trying to do something like this for a while, and was curious if other people had explored the idea of cutting leaves. Wonderful work, it looks so much more intricate than I think I could ever manage! I love the design!

Thank you very much, try it out yourself and show me when it's finished. It's really a lot of fun. There are other people who are true masters at this, but they use a different technique and just remove the upper layer, so that you still can see the veins.^^

Hey... I was actually in the process of cutting something tonight and came here to check and make sure what I was cutting wasn't too close in design to what you did, since all I could remember is that you'd cut some deer and trees into a leaf and I thought it was really cool. And... well, I'd forgotten that I'd left this comment all those years ago and that you'd asked me to show you my attempt if I tried it. So if you are still interested, here's one of the things I've done so far: Stag Leaf

I just wanted to thank you for the inspiration and for the amazing art you do.

Thanks a lot for showing me. I think it looks amazing. :)
I'm very happy that my art was able to inspire you and you told me about it.
It's magic, isn't it? We live so far from each other and yet we are able to communicate and
inspire each other through art...

I really love your painted leaves. I remember I saw something like that bevore my first ever leaf cut, but I don't
know if it was one of yours.
